I'm currently reading  The Taking of Jemima Boone  by Matthew Pearl which tells the story of Daniel Boone's daughter, Jemina who was captured by native Americans while she was exploring the wilderness outside of Fort Boonesborough one day with two friends. It's such an interesting read!

I'm a Daughter of the American Revolution!

I recently learned that my application was approved and that very soon, I 'll become an official Daughter of the American Revolution (DAR)! You may be wondering, "What is the DAR"? The DAR, founded in 1890 and headquartered in Washington, D.C., is a non-profit, non-political volunteer women's service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America's future through better education for children.  Any woman over 18 years old who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution is eligible for membership My journey to discovering my patriot began about 10 years ago as I became interested in genealogy and began researching my heritage through the website, ancestry.com.
